I need a quick response. waiting for a positive response...
Hi,
First you check whether you made any changes in the settings of 'My Network Places' . This should be enabled always.
If not enabled , you enable it.
Shut down your R/3 server and restart your system/PC.
This may work for you, try it.
Regards,
Neeraja

-> orcale 8i is not (and never was and never will be) supported on windows 2003 server
-> switch to at least oracle 9.2.0.8 (10.2.0.2 will even be better as ora 9i will be de-supported by 07/2007)

This is not true, check Note 1021844 - Oracle 9.2 Extended Support free until July 31, 2008
I would recommend though using a different installation set because 8.1.7 is out of maintenance and in case of problems you won´t get any help.

So you cannot look from inside the system...
Have a look at /usr/sap/sid/DV.../work into the dev* files to find some hints what 's wrong.
