I presume that you are asking abt the POS and Quotation processes.
When a customer shows interest in you product but would like to know the price he asks for a quote. This is captured in SAP as a Quotation with a Validity period meaning that the prices are valid only with in a specified period.
If the customer confirms within the validity period the quotation is used to referred to create a Sales Order. Then the Order is delivered and the Invoice is generated. This is a birds eye view of the quotation process.
I am not aware of the POS process.
