Hi friend prior to my knowledge.Sap R/3 having a module Plant maintenance Customer services there we can make configurations for warranty process and the records should be also maintained.But as per SD purpose we have to do do some configuration in incompletion log where to check in sales order level.Then before saving sales order it will ask u with a pop up message for the line item for warranty years.So this is a long process and the project should implement Plant maintenance Customer services module then it will works for SD.This can be used for MTO process also.
If Plant maintenance Customer services module is not used in the project we can use it in Sales orde. U just go to Header in sales order and check Text tab there we can find standard warranty left side.We can use this and the out put will include how many years u r giving there.So like this warranty used in SD.
