Hi Hassan,
with Backend System the SAP R/3 system is referenced. In SRM the process
starts on the Web = Front End and communicates with R/3 = Backend.

In SRM the Backend would be always R/3 i.e OLTP, for SRM we also have one system apart from the web, which u can called as SRM Backend but in general we called backend is OLTP.
