Can we do Network Modeling using APO?

Hello All,

I wanted to know if we can do Network Modeling using APO.

By "Network Modeling", I mean to say can I design my supply chain using APO to decide where my plants should be, where my DCs should be considering when I know where my customer's are?

Can we build a model that will optimize the inbound and outbound cost using APO?

I know there are other tools in the market that can be used for Supply Chain Modeling but I am not sure how much APO can do.

Regards,

Sanju

Its still there... Like I said, they hid it and its no longer supported.

But you can use it in v5.0.

Tcode /sapapo/nd

I used it once for a demo. So I have some experience in it.

Wow. This is beauty of the forum. SAP hides it but then someone else comes back and "unhides" it.

Interestingly <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_apo/helpdata/en/7e/63fc37004d0a1ee10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm">APO 3.0 help</a> still has link to ND documentation.

So before SAP pulls that out : ) I am going to copy paste all the pages in a document.

Sanju I guess you have the answer - even though SAP does not support the application component it may be worth a try purely from academic interest.

In case you are interested a quick search in Google brought some promising links.

Interestingly <a href="http://www.logic-tools.com/products/logicnetplus_sap.html">LogicTools</a> now delivers the ND application as an extension to APO called LogixNet Plus XE. This is getting interesting.

Thanks Ken for sharing the little secret.

There is a module in APO called Network Design.

Its no longer supported by SAP... the tcodes are hidden. But you can still use it.

I have not seen many people use it, so many limitations.

But yes you can.

Hi Kenneth,

Network design is something APO had in 3.0 but not in the later versions. I don't think APO has this any more. I am also not sure how the network design is done.
