Dear Raj,

from the business point of view: Forecast schedule is used mostly for a long-term planning of production, and the JIT schedule contains the exact dates and times for the next deliveries.

From the requirement and delivery point of view, you can control here which schedule is relevant for requirement s and which for deliveries and when. By indicating "MRP for DS type" (VBAK-ABDIS) you can indicate:

A - requirements according to Forecast, deliveries according to validity

B - requirements and deliveries according to validity

C - requirements according to Forecast, Deliveries according to JIT schedule

D - requirements according to validity, deliveries according to JI schedule

E - no JIT schedules used.

Validitiy means that before the date of JIT horizon the JIT schedule is relevant, after JIT horizon - the forecast schedule is relevant. The control of relevance is realized by means of different schedule line categories. In Customizing you must have always 4 schedule line catergories for the corresponding item category:

- relevant for requirements and deliveries

- relevant only for requirements

- relevant only for deliveries

- relevant neither for requirements nor for deliveries.

ATP check is recommended to be switched off.

There is also a possibility to use planning delivery schedules. They are not sent from customer, but created by you internally on the basis of the Forecast schedule according to the rules indicated in your Customizing.

Forecast and JIT schedules are both sent from your MM customer. If you create the scheduling agreement, then the Forecast schedule must always be created first. You cannot have the scheduling agreements with only JIT schedules without Forecast, but you can have with only Forecast. It is allowed.

I hope, this information helps you a little bit further.

hai,

forecast delivery schedule: it is the actual quantities and dates representing the delivery schedule given as per the clients requirment it is a long term planning.

just in time delivery schedule: JIT scheduling works closely with customer requirments within the forecast delivery scheduling,so that the customer requirmnets are met by providing the necessary scedulines as and when reqested by the customer.it is short term and more focussed in nature.

as the name represents it responds to the needs of the customer JUST IN TIME.

whereas the forecast delivery schedule is a long term forecast.

example could any railway contracts, tenders etc.

Dear Raj,

Forecast delivery schedules (FRC)

The VDA recommends that short, medium, and long-term requirements concerning delivery quantities and dates be sent to you in a forecast delivery schedule.

The customer normally enters weekly, or monthly schedule lines in this type of delivery schedule. However, the customer may decide to enter daily schedule lines here instead of using a JIT delivery schedule.

You can use the forecast delivery schedule as a basis for planning production and sales, and for controlling shipping. The forecast delivery schedule can refer to a scheduling agreement or purchase order.

Just-in-time delivery schedules (JIT)

The JIT delivery schedule is much like the forecast delivery schedule except that it is more suitable for short-term requirements (exact-to-the-minute, in some cases).

Hence, you would go for JIT for short-term requirement scenarios.
