OSS-functionality and synchronization of data with SAP SOLMAN 4.0

Hi!

I have two questions regarding SolMan 4.0-functionality.

1) <b>what is exactly the advantange of the usage of OSS-function within SAP Solution Manager comparing with usual procedure?</b>

What is exactly the processing procedure of such a message (quick processing, semi-automatic response generation, etc.)

2) SOLMAN 4.0 allows to synchronize the data from different SAP solutions.

I<b>s it possible to synchronize/compare the data from DEV and PRD-system? </b>

Thank you very much indeed!

Dear Axel,

Let me answer the query pointwise :

<u>1.What is exactly the advantange of the usage of OSS-function within SAP Solution Manager comparing with usual procedure?</u>

The advantages are as follows :

The Service Desk can be used to set up efficient internal support for SAP-related error messages. End users can create error messages and send them to a central support organization working in the SAP Solution Manager. Here, the support employees can use advanced tools to process the error messages and deliver fast problem resolution, for example:

Message processing

Create error messages

Create internal notes

Record calls

Communicate per e-mail, SAPOffice or fax for the status update

Search for SAP Notes directly in the SAP Service Marketplace

Inquiry in an internal Solution Database

Send a message to SAP

Receive an answer from SAP

Implement SAP Notes with the SAP Note Assistant

Bi-directional interface to SAP to forward messages to SAP Support

SAP Notes search and automatic implementation of SAP Notes (and dependent Notes) using the SAP Note Assistant (software change management)

Interface between Service Desk and a Third Party Call Tracking System

Solution database for knowledge management

<u>2. Is it possible to synchronize/compare the data from DEV and PRD-system?

</u>

Yes and No.

No. Because Solution Manager is not an option for Client copies or Customizing Synchronization.

However you can still go ahead and do it at your risk by identifying both the systems not linked to each other. So Yes this can be done at your own risk.

Finally to compare 2 clients you already have the standard transaction which is SCU0.

Hope this answers your question.

Regards

Amit
