ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

Hi,

I just upgraded my database and from 9.0.5 > 10G and am now faced with this issue…

Connected to an idle instance.

SQL> startup

ORACLE instance started.

Database mounted.

ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

SQL>

Can you please assist me with this?

Have a look in your alert<SID>.log, seems your instance crashed. If in doubts, post the last lines here.

Hi Markus,

I just looked at the alert file and caught the culprit as it was file permission.
