Hi,

Instead of assigning roles to the user, can I assign profiles only?

If yes, then can anyone tell me how to find the specific profile which is generated while creating the role.

hi,

Technically you can assign profiles directly to user.

however, except few standard SAP profile (like SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW) it does not make much sense to do so.

the reason is that Profile field is limited to 12-char only and so to make good naming convention and so tracing back is difficult.

Maintenance of Roles are more user friendly , you can put a very good naming to identify authorization behind it (like SALES_MANAGER_NORTH).

When you generate Role, you can choose to automatically generate profile name.

And you assign the roles to the user, underlying profile is automayically get assigned....

I don't think you can assign generated roles directly - just try

and PS you don't have to accept generated names for the roles but can give whatever names you want.

indeed...You are right....Generated profiles cannot be assigned directly to user. Only assignment via associated roles.
