Work process dev_w0 too big

Former Member

Dear all,

After the upgrade of Oracle from 9.2.0.5 into 10.2.0.2, I've noticed my file system /usr/sap/SID is growing rapidly. I saw that one work process dev_w0 grows too much, now it's more that 1GB.

We are using SAP R/3 4.6C on HP-UX 11.23.

I'm not sure if this is because of the Oracle upgrade, but the work process started to grow just after the upgrade.

I use PSAPUNDO with NO Automatic extend option.

Does anyone knows why the work process is growing so rapidly?

Thanks in advance.

Many regards,

Ruzica

Hi,

From tr. SM50 you can check your trace level ( Menu Process-Trace-Display File). At first line you can see it. To modify it, Menu Process-Trace-Active Components.

If you want to delete the unnecessary trace file (and free disk space), at the same menu, select option "reset files" (with the WP selected).

Best Regards,

JC Llanes.

Thanks Juan,

I reset the trace and free the space from /usr/sap/<SID>

I have only trace level 1 with components -- taskhandler, but something happened because one work process started to grow very much.

Hi Ruzica,

did you have a look inside dev_w0? Can you post the last lines of the file here?

Best regards,

Elmar.

Hi Ruzica,

looks like you are still running with a trace level > 1.

Can you double check (in sm50 and in report RSPFPAR) that your trace level is set to 1 (check for profile parameter rdisp/TRACE in RSPFPAR).

Best regards,

Elmar.
