Hello All,
I want to Set the Debug Mode status ON for my server 0.
SAP Help says that :-
1. I need to right click on this server0 and select " Enable Debugging of Process ".
then , The server process is stopped and restarted in debugging mode. Only the ON value is shown for Debug Mode. To display the current status of the server, in the view toolbar, choose Refresh. Wait until the server has the status Running.
But I have a Question´now.
1. Will the server be stopped during this process ?
2. Do i need to inform my Portal Admin team regarding this ?
If I need to Inform then what should I say to them ? Like.. should I say that the server will be stopped and they need to Restart it ?
Can any one guide me reg. this ?
Regards,
Deepu.k
Hi Deepu,
1.The server will not be stopped in the debugging mode.
2.Ask your SAPWAS Administartor , Ask start server in debugging mode.
Thx& Rgds

Hello Sreeni and Sridhar,
Thanks for ur reply.
But i have one more Qn now :-
Ask your SAPWAS Administartor , Ask start server in debugging mode.
Should I Enable the Debug Process and ask my Admin team to restart the server OR Should I ask my Admin team to enable the Debug Process for me ?
Request u to clarify !!!

Deepu.K
Hi Deepu
If the debugging is set to "ON" from NWDS it is for that current state of the J2EE engine. Once you restart the J2EE the debug mode will be disabled.
You can set the debug mode to be "ON" whenever the J2EE is started. This is done in the Offline Config Tool. Run the ..\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat and select the <server_ID1234567> node.
On selection on the right hand side pane there will be tab - "Debug", Select the "Enable debug mode" checkbox and restart your J2EE engine.

Hello Sridhar,
Thanks for ur reply once again.
SO , do u mean to say the following :-
1. I should inform my Ádmin team to start the server in Debug mode.
2. When I get the confirmation from them then I should enable the debug process in my NWDS.
3. When I do so the server will get restarted and I should again inform this to my Admin team.
4. Once the server is ready I can use the debugging .
Kindly clarify !!!!

Hello Ashwani,
Actually earlier I tried to enable the debug process for SDM instead of enabling it for server0.
When I did that my server got stopped.
My admin team told me not to do that once again.
That's the reason I'm cautious this time.
So u mean to say now that If I right click on my server 0 and If I select enable debug process the server will not get restarted ?
and then I'll be able to run a debug session without affecting any server ?
Regards,
Deepu.K
Don't start SDM locally, you don't need it.
server0 is the only process which you use to debug. Enabling a local debug session on it wouldn't restart your server.
If you still wants to be more cautious ask your administrator to start the server in debug mode. [Safest path ]

Hello Ashwani ,
OK..I'll chosse the safest path and I'll ask my Admin team to do that for me .
But Now I've one more Question ?
1. Say...My Admin team has started the server In debug mode.
2. Do I still need to enable the debug process in my NWDS ?
i.e J2EE Engine -->Server 0 --> Right Click --> Enable Debug Process ????
KIndly clarify !!!!

Deepu.K
Hi,
You need to restart the server.
You can restart the server if you were allowed to do so. Otherwise take the
help of Admin and tell them what are the changes needs to be done for
debug mode.
Thanks
