invalid syntax error - internet explorer

Hi.

one of my users got this problem at the user's site. when enter the portal address on Internet Explorer(IE) , the user got on IE:

Title: Invalid Syntax Error - Microsoft Internet Explorer

The page cannot be displayed

The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.

Please try the following:

Open the home page, and then look for links to the information you want.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

If you still cannot open the page, click the Internet Explorer

Search button to look for similar sites.

Any idea? The user can surf other sites with no problem.

Depending on the version of IE they are using or how high their security settings are, they could get an error like this. We tell users to use no less than IE6 SP1 with 128 bit encryption.

Then again, can other users see and log into your portal?

Hi David,

Other users have no problem logging into the portal, only this user. this user have IE 6 Sp1 with 128-bit encryption. after i requested to delete all the off-line content and clear history, the user got "Cannot find server- microsoft internet explorer" on the title, and page cannot be displayed. after several refresh, still the same. however, the user can surf yahoo sites.

any help on this? thank you.

How are they getting to the portal? Via internet, intranet or VPN from a remote location?

Does she have to go through a firewall to get to the portal? Do others have to use the same firewall?

Can they ping the portal's address using IP and FQDN?
