what is the meaning of fields Mat grp 1,Mat grp 2,Mat grp 3,Mat grp 4,Mat grp 5

why these fieds are used in material master and what is the logic of these fields.

This is used to bifurcate the material classification further fro grouping process... say your material is pepsi then matreial grp1 can be beverages/cold drinks grp2 can be pet bottles or small bottles. grp3 can be the returnable bottle or use and throw. These are not used in the R/3 system but usually used for analysis or defining the material further.

Hi Shailesh,

The Material Group fields are provided by SAP to logically group the materials based upon certain feature. The five fields are given just in case a particular material fall under two groups.

The material group field can later be used for any reporting or analysis use. Grouping could be like Tools, Stationery, Consumer Durables..etc.

Dear Shailesh,

A grouping of materials and services according to their characteristics. Material Group of a material is applicable to the entire company and is stored at client level.

Examples:

Ladies' wear

Office supplies

Beverages

Maintenance work

HI shailesh,

SAP has given 5 options to tell abt the product attributes, like Now take a example...Chairs...

1. high back model, 2 colour, 3 strong chair, 4 plastic chair, 5 Model.

these mainly use to get the reports
