Starting external programms via SAP XI

Hello everybody,

is it possible to start external programms via SAP XI?

I have following scenario:

A user in a webapplication should approve a process. Then a file which is on a fileserver should be encrypted und should be sent via ISDN (external programms are responsible for this doing).

Can SAP XI handle this requirement? Does it make sense? Or should the webapplication starts this programms without SAP XI?

you can have http--> XI --> File scenario where you can make use of Operating systems command after message processing feature of file adapter to trigger an external script which then can do the required.

Do you mean under - Integration Builder Configuration -->Run Operating System command before/after message processing ?

But how can I inform the script the filename then?

%f should do the trick:)

so a typical example would be

<i>mv %f /usr/sap/somefolder</i>
