User is currently locked .....in WEB UME

Hi Guys,

We have a double stack NW04s SR2 , solution manager system.

When we try to go to the--> http://<hostname>:54400/useradmin

and put in a user ID to modify/assign in the WEB UME, it show us an error message

"The user is currently locked for modification by someone else. Try again later."

We do not understand, who is locking the user. There is no one modyfying the user on the ABAP stack (the default user store is ABAP) or anywhere on the browser. we have checked the SM12 entries as well. There is absolutely nothing there, which is locking to modify the user.

We have restarted the system twice or thrice, but no luck.

All we have changed after the install is the Client from initial "001" to the actual client "500" for UME datasource. (we created 500 from copying 001).

Any ideas?

I have seen a thread with the something related but there was no resolution.

Hi ABHI,

Reason for this message "The user is currently locked for modification by someone else. Try again later." is: because- A user account is trying to change at same time by two users; System will not allow to change at same time by two users.

Solution is: Restart the J2EE engine or closed the session of backed system.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

Well that's the whole point. There is right now no one using this system, other than us( rather me and a couple of folks) and no one is logged on.

Infact, we even have tried shutting down the system and restarting it, but to no success. (atleast 5 times).

I hope you get the issue now. It just not a user is locked or user is being edited by someone else.

It something else & hence this question.

No, unfortunately not. Well what you can try is upgrading the Java support stack.

I was on SP10 when this problem happened.

I guess, with SP11, this problem may be solved...seems to me like a bug.

I have not tried upgrading this, as I was assigned to work on something else...

But will let you know, if I am able to figure it out.

You let me know, if that solves the issue.

I guess you did not read the message carefully...

"The user is currently locked for modification by someone else. Try again later."

We are not saying the user is locked and I can't logon...or anything like that...

Something is preventing the modification of the user profile..allthough nothing seems to be "locking it" it in the ABAP/WEB UME....
