Original Message:
Dear Customers,
we are currently about to discuss a split of the PLM forum in subfolders/subforums because of the mass of components that are wrapped up in PLM.
We want to know which structure you would prefer as a user of this forum.
The aim is to increase the usability of the forum and to decrease the time to find the right thread.
some possible examples:
PLM (using the names)
- Material Master
- Classicifaction
- cFolders
PLM (using the components)
- LO-MD-MM
- CA-CL
- PLM-CFO
PLM (more general attempt)
- LDM
- EAM
feel free to make own suggestions. I am looking forward to your replies.
faithfully yours
Marcus Wagler

SAP-EHS should be a separate forum...because it contains lots of components like product safety, dangerous goods mgmt, waste mgmt, industrial hygiene and safety, occupational health and safety. Also there are some other area like global label mgmt, hzardous substance mgmt etc....
So it should be separate and dedicated for EHS consultant...

Hi
Forum split is the right option for easy access to the issues related to individual modules.
This will help group issues, allow easy search, and reduce browsing time.

It is a good suggestion to split the PLM in sub area so that it will be useful to search the issue with respective area.I agree with the suggestion made by Martina, Kishore , Sudhakar & others ..I will suggest to add following area also
1. PLM - Plant Maintenace
2. PLM - Interface

I think splitting by name is better for easier understading. But you can consider using components too as in below format ...
PLM
- Material Master (LO-MD-MM)
- Classicifaction (CA-CL)
- cFolders (PLM-CFO)
In this way customers can familiar to relate names with componenets much better which is referenced in many documents.

According to me
PLM (using the names) is the better way to get the desired and systematic output
- Material Master
- Classicifaction
- cFolders

Yes...This kind of initiative is a long awaited activity. It was really hard to look for particular query because of PLM diversity.
I think, Martina has framed very good structure for splitting the PLM forum.
I will go with it.
Thanks,
Tim

Where would Document Management end up?

Hi Marcus,
PLM is soo vast module that it includes right from the Conception/Idea of Product to the End/Death of Product.
in my opinion it should be divided:-
1. PDM - Product Data Management (DMS, ECM/OCM, Classification, IPPE)
2. Projects Systems, CFolders, CProjects, xAPPs, xRPM.
3. Quality Management +
4. Plant Maintenance & Repair Service.
5. Integrations like CAD (AutoCAD, Unigraphics, Pro-E, & PS to Cproj, etc) and Viewers ECL, EAI etc.
It is very much required to split the PLM Forum into atleast 4 part.

Rehman

Marcus:
According to my opinion what Rehman Khan as described is good,
because it inculed all the related data.
1. PDM - Product Data Management (DMS, ECM/OCM, Classification, IPPE)
2. Projects Systems, CFolders, CProjects, xAPPs, xRPM.
3. Integrations like CAD (AutoCAD, Unigraphics, Pro-E, & PS to Cproj, etc) and Viewers ECL, EAI etc.
4.Plant Maintenance & Repair Service
5. Quality Management +
Thanks and REgards

Hi,
I would also recommend the PLM-Forumsplit as it is a process oriented module rather than R/3 based module. I will recommend the following split will be better,
1. PLM - Project system
2. PLM - Asset life cycle management
3. PLM - Quality management
4. PLM - Environmental Health & Safety
5. PLM - Recipe management
6. PLM - xRPM
9. PLM - Cproject and Cfolder
10. PLM - Material master
11. PLM - Variant configuration
12. PLM - DMS
13. PLM - Classfication
14. PLM - ECM
15. PLM - FICO

The idea of splitting the PLM is most welcome.
This should be done as per topics for having more focus
PLM - PS (Project System/Project Management)
PLM - DMS
PLM - Classifications
PLM - xAPPs
PLM - cProjects & cFolders
PLM - Material Master
PLM - Quality
PLM - Enchancements & Developments
PLM - EHS

Hi,
I would also suggest an own forum for the EH&S module which is also part of the PLM extension. Currently EH&S questions are posted in many different forums (ABAP, BPX, ...), but most of them still in the current PLM forum.

Andreas

Hi,
The intitiative for spliting the PLM forum is really good step to make SDN forum more systematic & guide for all consultants & Users also.
As Project systems is an important module, let us keep it in different name say PLM-PS so that working will be easier.

Following can be Forumsplit Structure

PLM-xAPPs
PLM-cProjects & cfolders
PLM-Material Master
PLM-BOM
PLM-enchancements

Hi All
I am in line with Martina's suggestions. Besides that following is the my proposal
PLM - PS (Project System/Project Management)
PLM - ECM
PLM - DMS
PLM - Classifications
PLM - xAPPs
PLM - cProjects & cFolders
PLM - Material Master
PLM - BOM
PLM - Quality
PLM - Enchancements & Developments
Hope above will be acceptable and request you all to suggest.
One thing I would like to emphasise is that we must have one forum for PLM - PS exclusively. Infact, exclusive PS forums are very rare and to be honest, inspite of working on SAP structures, many of individuals are not aware of existence and part & parcel of "PS Module" within SAP structure.
Enjoy SAP....
Regards,
Sudhakar
Hello Markus,
I think that a split into the various PLM components would be great!
I agree with Martina concerning possible folders;
PLM - Material Master
PLM - Classicifaction
PLM - cFolders
PLM - Project System
PLM - Quality management
PLM - Variant Configuration
etc.
This would make it easier to find specific topics and not go through the entire SDN in order to find the correspondent information. I am surprised that this possibility was made accessable to moderators from the beginning on.
Best Regards,
Isabelle

I am completely agree with Martina. It is inline with SAP's training courses.
It will give better visibility in terms of topic selection and we can post and find out the thread much more effectively.

Hi
I would suggest to go by the SAP's "Training Courses: Consultant Academy: mySAP Business Suite" breakup i.e.
PLM - Life-Cycle Data Management (PDM)
PLM - Project Management (PS)
PLM - Maintenance & Repair
PLM - Quality Management (QM)
