hi

Can someone explain the differences between Message Monitoring & End-to-End Monitoring through RWB. I see both of them displaying the messages status with better descriptive with End-to-End Monitoring.

Chandra,

message monitoring can be used for:

To display & filter xi messages processed through integration server.

To view the overview of messages.

To edit and restart the process of error messages.

in message monitoring u can view the flow of messages during various runtime components of XI integration server.

end-to-end monitoring:

u can monitor the message processing steps across different components of XI. suppose if u have configured various SAP components with XI, u can monitor end to end process of all the components. it gives u graphical representation of all the components involved in end-end process.

in turn u can view the path if specific message processing of particular components involved in process using 'instance view'. detailed description is available here for each message.

HI Chandra

You use message monitoring in the following cases:

1 To track the status of messages

2 To find errors that have occurred and establish what caused them

Check this help for further info:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2f/4e313f8815d036e10000000a114084/content.htm

You use end-to-end monitoring in the following cases:

1 If you want to monitor message processing steps in a number of SAP components (to be configured).

2 If you want to monitor the path of individual messages through these SAP components, from start to end.

Check this help for further info:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/82/9e8dfe9eadbd4b9194c433e646b84e/content.htm

End-to-end monitoring includes message monitoring, adapter monitoring, BPE if BPM is involved.. so end-to-end monitoring tells you complete description of your scenario......but message monitoring is concerned only with source message coming to target message successfully generated.

Cheers..

Hi Chandra,

In end2end monitoring you can login monitor the complete status of the message.

It gives you a graphical view.

Suppose you are sending IDOC to R/3 system then you can check the status of the IDOC from end2end monitoring provided you have activated the same.

Cheers,

Sumit

Message Monitoring

Very similar to sxmb_moni

End-End Monitoring

2 options

instance monitoring- Monitor all the message flowing across a particular XI component.

process monitoring- Monitor a single message flowing thru the various components in XI
