No.

SLD is a server of XI and other systems in the landscape. Therefore, it can't be considered as a component unique to XI.

SLD stands for system landscape directory.....It is the one of componet

Hi Siva,

SLD, is not a component on its own. The name was given for better readability only. We can convert any Java WAS installation as SLD system by incorporating CIM (Common Information Model) Content to it.

So brief on this, Any Java WAS installation can be convered as SLD system by incorporating CIM content to it.

pls: give points if it helps u.

HI Siva

SLD need not be in XI system. It should be in a landscape, You can have one Server as a SLD in your landscape. It is a central repository of all the components in a landscape

In a huge landscape, SLD will not be in XI server. But in a small landscape it may be the case. In many real time implementations, SLD is in the different server not in XI

SLD is central information provider for all xi components.it is in landscape.it is based on CIM(common information model

useful notes :

#764393 Configuration of the SAP System Landscape Directory

#768148 Using a separate SLD for XI

#939592 PI Usage Configuration versus Central SLD

#720717 Reduce the number of System Landscape Directories (SLD)
