Hello,
I am new for the SQL server.
How can I do the SQL server system copy from Production PRD to
TEST (QA) server ?
Please advise.
(Any step by step hint will be helpful and appreciated.)
Thanks.

Pranav

Markus,
I tried the website but I was not able to find any good document.
We are running the ECC 6.0 on sql server 2005.
If you have it can you please let me know.
email pvthaker@yahoo.com
I followed following steps :
1. Shutdown the production server or detach files from PRD
2. Perform Full backup on PRD server.
3. Shutdown the QA server and Move PRD data file and Trasaction file
physically to QA server.
I am not sure how to change the internal SID name for the QA for SAP.
That is where I am lost. In oracle I change it through control file.
Can someone please guide me ?
Thanks,
From,
PT.
Those are the official system copy guides
http://service.sap.com/systemcopy
--> Media Library
--> System Copy for SAP Systems Based on NW 7.0 SR1 ABAP
That is what you need.
Section 4.1.2 describes the process how to do it:

HI Pranav,
After succesful restore of database on target system-QAS .
You need to run <b>STM(SQL Tools for Microsoft)</b> .
Run the sapinst.exe select System Copy and follow through the Screens.
You would be providing inputs like the Profile path, Domain name, Server name, SID , DBSID.
That's it you are done.
Later follow the post Installation on the ABAP System which you must be aware.

Dear Pranay,
I would also recommend you review OSS Note 151603 Copying an SQL Server database
