On what situation We have to Archive a Message?

If there any Archiving and Retion Periods "How To" documents?

Hi, no matter what retention period I entered, I'm getting "0 XML messages archived". What is missing? Thanks.

As explained by satish . in production environment it is correct also , you can do .. it depends upon the message size ..

The key information for sizing is the number and the size of messages the Integration Engine has to process in a given scenario.

The sizing model is based on the following preconditions:

- We only consider “direct communication”. Possible local proxy servers tunneling messages to and from the Integration Servers are not considered.

- We assume that data is persisted twice, once for each of two asynchronous steps (the data is initially persisted after it is received and then again after processing). If data is persisted more than twice (for example, for debugging purposes), more disk space will be required.

- The measurements are calculated against an average CPU consumption of 70% (see the general sizing procedure at SAP1).

- The sizing guidelines do not include additional requirements caused by data archiving, data deletion or reorganization.

- Sizing is for SAP Web Application Server 6.40.

- Processing by the Adapter Framework is taken into account.

Pete,

In production daily your messages keeps increasing which may make your database to be full. If there is no space in database then it will throw errors. Also once the message is successfully processed then there is no point in keeping the message. So what we do is normally for every 30 days we will do the archiving of these messages.

If a message has been successfuly delivered, why we have to archive the message from the Database?

Pete,

Just in case if you need the messages after few months you can get from them. Always in production it is a good practice to archive the messages rather than deleteing because it is a prodcution data pete.

Also it depends upon the clients requirements also.
