Distributing roles in the child system to the central system using CUA

Can someone tell me what is the correct way to use the distribute button in PFCG using CUA. I can't find any documentation on this functionalitity.

If you are using indirect role assignments (Position Level Security), do you do the following?

Create role in child system, and on the menu tab put the name of the central system into the target system field and click on distribute to get role to show up on central client for indirect role assignment purposes.

Is this correct?

Please advise!
