How can i give search help for an input field that is used to get input for time?

you should use an attribute of time datum or dats
and set searchhelp mode to automatic,
you will see the F4 in the layout

I have set the attribute type as 'TIMS' and set the input help mode to automatic. But still, i dont get the input help. Is there a way out?
I do not think you have a search help for time fields. If dats is specified as data type, the F4 help is automatic, but I doubt if the same applies to a field of type TIMS.
as to TIMS, note that there is no automatic F4 help available for this field.
