Hi All,
We are installing ECC 5.0 in our company. The OS is 64 bit windows and the database is Oracle 10g. Most importantly the processor type we have is Intel Xeon.
We have dowloaded installation components like RDBMS , patchset, kernel etc for Windows IA 64bit. When we started installing RDBMS Oracle 10g for Windows IA 64 bit on our Xeon Processor, we get an error message " The application does not support the machine type". Then we also searched in SAP marketplace for components which supports Windows Xeon 64 bit but were unable to find the same.
Can anybody confirm whether the problem occuring is because IA 64 does not support Xeon processor or for some other reason. If so, can I get any help about any other alternatives.
Thanks and Regards,
Abdul

IA64 is not Xeon but Intel Itanium-2, you need to download the installation for Windows X86_64 (which is the Intel extension for Xeon). IA64 is a different platform.
Also check Note 931024 - FAQ: 64-bit platforms for Windows, there it´s explained in detail.

Check here:
http://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain
--> Oracle
--> Oracle 64-Bit
--> Oracle 10.2.0. 64-bit
--> Oracle 10.2.0.2
--> NT_x86_64
(omit the "IA" when searching, just search for x86_64 or x64).

...and for the kernel patches:
http://service.sap.com/patches
--> Entry by Application Group
--> SAP Application Components
--> SAP ERP
--> SAP ERP 2004
--> Entry by Component
--> SAP ECC Server
--> SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT UNICODE
--> Windows Server on x64 64bit
I´d recommend installing a Unicode system because all systems beyond ERP 2005 will only be supported on Unicode.

And finally for your complete installation kit:
http://service.sap.com/installations
--> Entry by Application Group
--> SAP Application Components
--> SAP ERP
--> SAP ERP 2004
--> Installation & Upgrade
--> Windows Server
--> Oracle
There you will find all the CDs you need for installation.
You need now the Installation Master, Kernel Unicode (in case you install a Unicode system) and your database CDs for X86_64/X64.

Sadly, We couldnt find the kernel dvd for the X86_64 on the market place. and one more thing for oracle will it support AMD64.
How about the compatability between AMD64 and X86_64
Please help!!!
