Copying Planning Books, Macros, Background jobs etc

Dear Friends,

When we have to perform a major change in the Production system like addition of a new characteristic in APO-DP, can we create a new Planning Area and copy the Key figures, Planning Books/data views, Macros, all Planning jobs etc from the existing Planning area for Testing and POC purpose instead of creating the same things again?

Your ideas and suggestions will be of great help. Thanks in advance.

Regards

Bala

Your change in characterisitics will affect the MPOS

You will have to create a new MPOS with the new characterisitics and activate it and Generate the New CVCs

You can then copy the existing Planning area and initialize it. Make sure you change the MPOS that it refers to before initializing

You can also copy the Planning book/Data views and the macros from the existing ones

Same goes with the Jobs. You can copy and change the planning area it refers to

alternately you can create the MPOS and generate CVC

after that deactivate the current planning area (after backing up the data )

change the MPOS it is attached to

reactivate the planning area

Hi Harish,

Thanks for your feedback. Well, if I create a copy of the existing planning area, do I get the Planning books, macros etc also copied or do I have to perform that explicitly. If so could you pls let me know how do I do that?

Thanks and regards

copying a planning area will not copy the planning books attached to it

you need to copy it using the "design planning book" transaction
