How to the Item category control the pricing and how to determine price in system.

It is with the Item category that we determine whether we would like to charge the customer or not. For instance for sending Text items we might not charge the customer the same logic might apply to Free of Charge items as well.

Pricing Procedure is determined based on

1. Sales Area

2. Customer Pricing Porcedure

3. Document Pricing Procedure.

Item category controls whether the item is relevant for pricing or not e.g. BOM and Free Goods scenarios

Hi,

In VOV7(Item category control) check the field Pricing relavance.If this field is marked as relavant for pricing then only in sales order price will be determined.

Eg.For standard item TAN this field is marked as X and for Free of charge item TANN it is marked blank so no pricing is carried out.

Pricing is carried out as per condition technique and pricing procedure determination in SPRO.

Sales areaCuppDopp=Pricing procedure.

Hi,

Item category to provide additional control function for sales document and delivery document.

For sales document:

Control Pricing,Billing relevance,delivery relevance, Shedule line permited, relevance for incompleation procedure, relevance for Partner determination and Text detrmination and determine cost for VPRS condition type.

Determination:

Sales document type+ Item category group + Usage + Higher level Item category.

For Delivery documet:

Relevant for Picking, Relevant for Storage location determination and Minimum delivery quantity.

Determination:

Deliver document type+ Item category group + Usage + Higher level Item category

<b>Item Category</b>

In the item category config screen you have a pricing indicator which is used to denote if the item category is relevant for pricing or not. Text item are not relevant for pricing so for those cases you would disable this option.

<b>Pricing Procedure Determination</b>

The pricing procedure is determined as follows

Sales Area + Customer Pricing Procedure + Document Pricing Procedure

The config for the pricing procedure is availalbe at SPRO -> Sales & Distribution -> Basic Functions -> Pricing -> Pricing Control -> Define and Assign Pricing Procedure.

Item category generally defines the billing relevance of an item

like say whether we can bill the item ( no for free item) and the pricing cal for the material.

if u can look at the bak ground of itemcategory ( tan) u shud have check boxes for billing and pricing which r dependent on sales area in which the material is sold and the pricing procedure determined ( pricing cal) and the doc pricing procedure

determine the price depends on many factors... taxes , maqnufacturing cost r purchasing cost etc...
