Enter forecast offline - SCM 5.0

Hello All,

A major requirement for our client is the ability for their sales teams to enter a forecast offline and synch it to the system when they are able to get a connection. ( they only want to implement the DP module). The suggestion of using Excel with an update to a BEX query and flat file upload back to DP was rejected.

I’ve heard mention of potential offline capability in 5.0.

Did anyone use this capability? I'll appreciate any help.

Thanks and regards,

Gyo

you dont need a BEX query and a flat file to upload to DP

in version 5.0 You can upload forecast directly from an excel sheet (in a preset template) into a interactive planning book. Look for the little icon there (with rollover text "Upload Data")

you can directly load an excel sheet that the sales staff have saved offline into this only they log into APO

Hi Gyo

What they may have been talking about was the new collaboration between SAP and Microsoft to allow offline planning in Excel and then uploading into APO. This front-end also allows for on-line planning of APO through Excel. Currently this is only available for DP, but is to be extended to other modules later on.

Duet is a possible approach, but there is the new SCM 5.0 functionality of download upload from the planning book which is something slightly different and maybe requiring less architecture.

The download into excel can take with it the technical parameters that will allow subsequent upload (and overwrite) back into the planning book.

Hpoe this helps.
