locale zh-CN =/= zh

i understand my problem clearer now,

if i go to ume and change my setting to DE -German and set my xlf file to de_xlf

when i logged in it reflected perfectly,

but when i change my setting to zh - Chinese and set my xlf to zh-CN_xlf,

i have no way to get chinese character , but english.

i go to the index.html ume, the language for choose the Chinese(China) is disabled

and when i login to R3 SU01 modify the user , the user selection doesn't have Chinese zh-CN but Chinese zh

what should i do

Hi yzme,

Check if you have included the Chinese Language in your browser, like

Go to Tools - > Internet Options - > Select Languages - > Add the language Chinese.

Browser should always be able to rectify whixh xlf to be taken as default

Now that should be fine

Oops...

the sequence is looks for UME !found --> dynpro application locale !found --> browser

if i already set in UME , this should take effect rather than browser or dynpro apps

correct ??

even if i not set anything in germany (de) for my browser , application automatically set to the locale based on the UME user locale

but not for chinese,

how to i installed new language package in R3

the default language supported by R3 is german and english...

I got it working as zh_CN instead oh zh-CN ,

maybe that helps try it.

Good luck.

actually i am using zh_CN.xlf

it works fine for my dropdownlist which allow user to select their preferred language.

but the problem now is when a user is set with a language in R/3 / UME

the language options that allow to select is ZH for simplified Chinese

and ZF for traditional Chinese

i Go for ZH...

but when this user log in to the system, it will appear ENGLISH instead of getting the properties of ZH_CN.xlf

maybe someone can shed some light for this issue

OK

check UME for user logon language : DE

application take the properties for : _de.xlf

NOT OK

check UME for user logon language : ZH

application take the properties for : zhCN.xlf

Do i have to install language to make this work ?

when i logon to R/3

client : xxx

username :xxx

password : xxx

language : zh

warning : please select the installed language !
