Starting remote Iseries application server

Hello,

did someone have a procedure on how to start and stop a SAP instance on a remote iSeries ? This should be done by starting and stopping the central SAP instance.

Best regards

Thomas

Hello Thomas,

Maybe you can have a look at Management Central within iSeries Navigator. Management Central enables you to define one system i (AS/400) as the Management Central (MC) system in your system i environment. Within the MC you can define commands to be executed on other systems. For more information have a look at the following link (Chapter 3):

Hey guys,

starting with kernel 6.40 the STARTSAP option INSTHOST should work.. why don't you use that one?

To avoid problems I'd recommend to apply the latest SAPSTART patch to the kernel libraries on both hosts and, for sure, the <SID>OFR resp. <SID>ADM password should be the same.

I'll also check SAP note 93316, since this is tagged as release independent...

Best regards,

Christoph

Hi Thomas,

have you found Note 93316 - AS/400: Start/stop all instances at the same time?

Hi Thomas,

it is a while ago, that I did this the last time, but would do the following:

Similar to RUNRMTCMD in your start profile just replace it with SBMRMTCMD for the iSeries ...

Then you create a CL-Pgm on the target and OK ...

I think there is an old note out as well: 8xxxx ?
