ECC5.0 UNicode Installation error

Hi guys,

I am installing UNICODE ECC5.0 ABAP on a machine with the following hardware:

RAM : 2GB

Hard disk : 180 GB

OS = Windows 2003

DB = Oracle 9.2.0 ith Patch and OUI updated.

DB installation, Central instance installation went fine but during the database instance installation time during Stating RFC jobs phase it is giving error " RFC logon failed, connection to gateway failed, connect_pm GWHOST=<Hostname> GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=<hostname>, SYSNR=00.

While I see the MMC the SAP instance was not started only.

In the sapinst_dev.log we can see the entries creating rfc parameters and the RFC connection information checked successfully but next to that line "Unable to open RFC connection"

"Failed to open RFC connection"

connect to SAPGATEWAY failed"

partner not reached

during the sapinst running time i cannot see any syslog generated in syslog of sap mmc.

When I try to start the MMC the following errors appear :

Symptom

The system does not start, for example, after an upgrade because all work processes terminate.

The trace files of the work processes contain the following entries:

Reason and Prerequisites

The service name for the SNA gateway is assigned incorrectly;The problem only occurs if the rdisp/sna_gateway parameter is defined and the relevant rdisp/sna_gw_service parameter is not defined.

As these actions are executed during the initialization of the work process, the work process terminates.

Solution

Include the rdisp/sna_gw_service parameter in the relevant profile or delete the rdisp/sna_gateway parameter from the profiles if SNA communication is not required.

The error is eliminated with the following patch levels:

Release 4.6D : patch level 1251

Release 6.10 : patch level 606

Release 6.20 : patch level 312
