Hi Experts,

Installing Sap NetWeaver 2004 ABAP trial version, always I obtain the following error:

(May 14, 2009 11:03:15 PM), Install, com.sap.installshield.maxdb.maxdb_call_sdbinst, err, An error occurred and product installation failed. Look at the log file C:\sapdb\NSP\log.txt for details.

My laptop does not have 2 of the prerequisites of the installation:

1) Only has 512 MB RAM

2) I try to install it under WIN XP HOME (No Professional edition)

Can anyone help me, do you think this is due the lack of RAM, or the Operating System?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Ulf:

Thank you very much for your quick answer, Now already I know that it is not necessary to buy more memory.

I will review all the steps of the installation...

In any case if somebody knows where it can be the error, it would be thankful for its aid.

Thanks, Joan

Hi,

according to the error output you copied in the message:

"

ProductException: (error code = 601; message="An Error happened during call of MaxDB Tool sdbinst. Check end of Logfile C:/DOCUME1/jp/CONFIG1/Temp/MaxDBSAPNWPREV.log")

"

Please show us the end of the mentioned log file and check if you have a SDBINST logfile named 'MaxDB*.log' on your disk (in the Rundirectory/wrk of your MaxDB installation).

We need more information regarding which exact error SDBINST (the MaxDB Software Installer) faced.

Roland

Hi Roland,

In order to isolate the possible problems, I erased all the data of the computer, and now I do not have the file. I am going to install SAP Netweaver and I will review the log file that you comment.

Thanks for your help,

Joan

Hm,

to me, it seems that this is the current cause of the installation not going according to plan:

"

Tue Jun 05 20:34:24 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: ERROR: Backup check for 'C:\sapdb\NSP\_tempLocation\load\load_datasave' failed:

Tue Jun 05 20:34:24 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: File not found: C:\sapdb\NSP\_tempLocation\load\load_datasave

"

SDBINST breaks off after that.

Can you tell me if that directory & file exists on your machine?

Thanks & regards,

Roland

Hm,

how much room (diskspace) is left on your C:\ drive?

Hi Roland:

Next I detail the most relevant data for the installation, I hope that they serve to clarify the problem:

Hard disk space: 26 GB

Ram: Phisical memory 512 MB (480 MB Available) < = Out of system requirements

Operating System: Win XP Home Edition, 2002 version, service pack 2 <= Out of system requirements

Hosts file:

127.0.0.1 localhost <= It is this entry necessary?

10.10.0.10 ACERJP

Following entries in services file be added by installation process:

sapmsNSP 3600/tcp

sql6 7210/tcp

sapdbni72 7269/tcp

Look back adapter:

IP: 10.10.0.10

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Other questions:

Do you recommend to me deactivate the firewall during the installation process, in order to isolate possible problems?

There is necessary to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 ?

Best regards, Joan

Hi again,

I've asked a colleague of the installation team and he also said that the main point of the issue is this:

"

Tue Jun 05 20:34:24 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: ERROR: Backup check for 'C:\sapdb\NSP\_tempLocation\load\load_datasave' failed:

Tue Jun 05 20:34:24 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: File not found: C:\sapdb\NSP\_tempLocation\load\load_datasave

Tue Jun 05 20:34:24 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: installation exited abnormally at Tu, Jun 05, 2007 at 20:34:23

"

This file (the backup) must be created during the installation, it is being extracted, together with the MaxDB software.

If this error occurs, the software (and the backup) will be deinstalled again, this is also visible in the output you showed us.

Please retry the installation and wait and see if this file is being created. Because this backup can be rather large, it might take a while.

Roland

Hi Roland,

You were right, indeed the folder and file C:\sapdb\NSP\_tempLocation\load\load_datasave.gz, is created during the installation process, although when it finishes, they erase. In any case, we have taken a step ahead. The difference between this installation and the previous one are that I have deactivated my firewall and the antivirus. I do not know if this can be the cause.

Now the error happens in the following phase:

Hi again,

this time the problem is the following:

"

Mon Jun 11 23:56:08 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: getInstalledReleasesWin(): wrong version format

Mon Jun 11 23:56:09 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: error occured while executing wahttp -i

Mon Jun 11 23:56:09 CEST 2007 MaxDB sdbinst: wahttp -i: SAP DB WWW service installation failed - El servicio especificado ya existe. [1073]

"

I don't speak spanish, but it seems to me that the SAP DB WWW service could not be installed, because it already exists?

Regards,

Roland

Edit:

You can delete the SAP DB Web Server Service sapdbwww by entering this command:

<installation_path_web_tools>/pgm/wahttp.exe –u

Hi All,

The problem was with the Windows XP Home, since I have repeated the installation on Windows XP Professional without no problem.

Although I have to extend the memory to 1 GB, because it had 512 and it ran very slow.

Thank you very much to all by your aid, specially to Roland Mallmann.

Greetings, Joan

Hi Rice,

I'd like to suggest to you to open your own thread and post any relevant error message output in your thread for all to see.

Don't forget to also post your used MaxDB version (incl. Build-nr.).

Regards,

Roland
