Hi,

Could you send me the job responsibilities of a R/3 security personnel and BW security Personnel? How similar they are and where does the similarity end?

How much BW does anyone need to know to learn BW security?

Hello Reddy,

Here are some responsibilites (or knowledge requirement), hope this help you to some extent.

What’s the same

-Should be able to handle Role Based Security Authorizations

-Should have sound knowledge about assignment of correct roles to users, knowledge on profiles, authorizations,Central User Administration, different tools like CATT,eCATT..etc.

What’s different

-Should have knowledge about Unique BW Objects (InfoProvider, InfoArea, InfoObject, Query…)

-Should be able to use Unique SAP BW Authorization Tool to administer BExReporting data security

-Should be familiar with variable security runtime parameters and generating profiles from datasources

Award points accordingly,

Regards,

Raju.

Hi Reddy,

The main difference is that, in R/3 the first line of defence it S_TCODE, i mean its completely based on Transaction.

Where as B/W is completely object based i.e, it deals with securing Infoobjetcs, Infocubes, ODS, BW Queries, etc....

For more ingormation on BW Seecurity, please visit:

"How much BW does anyone need to know to learn BW security?"

It would be good if you have a little idea on BW objects and their purpose.

Hope it helps.

Please award points if it is useful.

thanks & regards,
