comparision - additional java node & app server.

I was looking at the thread,

My question is does having additional java node or an app server serve the same purpose.

Can any give me some docs, links on this or direct me in the right path.

The above link would help you..For your question, having additional nodes totally depends on the size of the system and app server serves the same purpose..
