AutoLogBackup

Former Member

I have activated Autologbackup from the DBMGUI.

When the log backups takes place it ends all ok and I can see the log backup from the DBMGUI, but I don't see it from SAP db13.

Could this be possible because I started it from DBMGUI instead of SAP?

Any ideas?.

Hello Daniel,

Could you please provide more information:

-> What is the version of your system?

-> What is the version of your database?

-> What is the SAP Basis SP do you have on your system?

If you SAP customer, could you please create the OSS ticket, therefore we will be able to logon to your system & check the issue.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

I think you understood me wrong.

I can active the log backup from db13 or dbmgui not the problem that.

The problem I am having is that when the Log buffer reaches its logment_size the backup happends. Thing is I don't see the log backup in SAP, but I do see it in the DBMGUI and the file is in the media I specified.

So I do not know why I don't see log backups in SAP. EarlyWatch Alert is alerting me this. So I wanted to fix it, because actually log backups are happening.

This is me Daniel ( I logged with another S(user) didnt notice it.

Hello Daniel,

when the autolog creates log backups, they should also be visible in the SAP system when you have a look at the backup history there. This should work even if you enabled the autolog in the DBMGUI.

If RZ20 gives an alert although the autosave log is enabled, I'm afraid we need to logon to your system to check what is going wrong there. Therefore please open a customer message (component BC-DB-SDB) and provide the logon information in the secure area of the message.

Best regards,

Hello Daniel,

Please review the info at

http://maxdb.sap.com/currentdoc/default.htm

-> Basic Information -> Glossary-> DBA Planning Calendar

"DBA Planning Calendar"

As you know the DBA Planning Calendar only available in SAP systems.

The DBA Planning Calendar is used to automate database administration.

You can schedule, perform, and check database administration actions.

You can use the DBA Planning Calendar for almost all regular database

administration actions.

The database actions desired are automatically executed at the time you specify.

You must therefore make sure in advance that the required resources will be

available at the time of execution. You can schedule actions periodically (in weeks). This reduces the scheduling work needed for periodic actions.

Documentation for SAP systems in the Help Portal at http://help.sap.com

Choose SAP NetWeaver -> Server <release> <language> ->

SAP NetWeaver -> Application Platform -> Databases -> MySQL MaxDB.

< See the SAP notes 1001874 & 767598. >

Go at

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/19/2b6e648ee85e429f5d70f49357d370/content.htm ...

and s SAP customer you could see "Result of an Action' section on

The topic how you can evaluate the following logs in the DBA Planning Calendar:

*Action log:

<Provides information about the process flow of the action scheduled

by the DBA Planning Calendar>

*Background Job Log:

<Provides information about scheduling actions as a background job>

*DBA History Logs

< the database activities written in dbahist.prt.

You could display the log file of the database activities, dbahist.prt,

in the Database Assistant-> Properties -> Files (Folder on the

right) -> dbahist.prt -> display;

& in details at the Database Assistant ->Problem Analysis -> Logs -> DBA History

< the files are located in <Rundirectory>/dbahist on the database server>.

As you could check on the database server the DBA logs from the

BackUps/Restores ( .sda,slo/.rda,.rlo ), Database Structure Checks

*.cdb, ... ), Archiving of Version Files ( *.ssa ), Autosave on/off

.aso/.ase ) ... actions, dbahist.prt are written to the

<RUNDIRECTORY>/dbahist.

***

You have SAP BASIS 7.00 SP 11. In DBA Planning Calendar (transaction DB13)

What Category did you select? "All actions"?

If yes, then you should be able to see the "Activate automatic log backup"

action in DBA Planning Calendar for your database at the time, when you

activated Autologbackup from the DBMGUI.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
