Hello XI / CMS Specialists
We want to test the transport of XI Repository Objects via CMS.
We followed the steps in the "HowTo...Transport XI Content via CMS.
The problem is, that we only have one XI-Instance.
So we entered in the XI-Track the same URL for the DEV and the CONS System.
This configuration was accepted with warnings.
It´s just for testing the functionality of the CMS.
The transportlist was generated successfully in the IR. But the export hangs in IR with the status waiting for export. Is there anything else to do? Accordant to the HowToGuide the transport should be listed in the cms in the cons tab. But there is nothing to see.
In the cms log i didn´t find any error messages concerning the transport.
Is this test possible with only 1 XI-Instance?
Thanks in advance for a soon answer.
Regards Marlies
Marlies,
Please go to Tools -> Display System Messages. Reply back the messge u r getting.
One more thing check the below URL and confirm whether your SW component is registered over there.
http://<host>:<port>/rep/support/admin/index.html

Thanks for your quick answer Raj,
1. The system Message is empty. And I didn't get the acknowledegment from CMS. I only got the message "Transport request generated and released for transport using CMS"
2. Under http://<host>:<port>/rep/support/admin/index.html under CMS-Adjustments my softwarecomponent is registered with : workspaceid:"ERP_TXIIR_C_cdiag.de_SC_FLUGSZENARIO".
Systemrole:"CONS"
Did you mean this?
One question is, how can CMS differentiate the DEV and CONS? In fact it is the same. Is it possible to transport onto the same URL?
Regards Marlies
Marlies,
I afraid you can't , but i'm not sure. Because importing objects into CONS system is the later part. But the first thing if you export from DEV it has to be in the CMS CONS import list.
Based on your reply, even it confirms that with the same XI instance we can't export/import.
The reason am saying this is , your Software component has the system role "CONS", actually while exporting from DEV the system role must be "DEV" for that Software component.
If you have any further querires, reply back.
Best regards,
raj.
Marlies,
I'm confirming that with the same XI instance you can't import/export. Please find the below document for reference.

<i><b>"You must not use the same URLs in DEV and CONS"</b></i>
Best Regards,

Raj,
thanks a lot for the hints and the clear statement.
But the document is based on the following Releases:
SAP NetWeaver 04 (SAP Web Application Server 6.40, XI 3.0 SP09)
Our Szenario is running on NW2004s NW ApplicationServer 7.0, PI 7.0 SP08
and CMS 7.00 SP08 .
According to page 3 "It is planned to make track definition possible with just
one system (DEV)" Do you have an idea, when this plan will be realized?

Hi Ray,
For your Information, I posted an OSS-Message. See the answer below:

Dear Marlies,
the situation looks as follows:
For XI there is no further improvement plans on the NWDI(CMS) but there
it remains the 3-System-Landscape Model as before.
But: the transport strategy of XI has been changed, as of 7.00 SP12
you can use CTS (calls Ehanched CTS -- i.e. not NWDI, but the
the ABAP Transport system) to transport non-ABAP objects too. I.e.
you do not even have to use NWDI for XI transport. An other good news isthat as of SP12 using CTS you can define only one DEV System as the
documentation (referred also by you) mentiones.
I've also attach you a documentation available on SDN where you can
read about the CTS+XI Features:
Kind Regards,
Ervin Szölke
