DP-PDS use?

Hi,

We can use a DP-PPM in APO-DP and we can also use DP-PDS as an alternative, as described in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm41/helpdata/en/76/0f8b94c3ab4494b970aaf058cceae4/frameset.htm">here</a>

But really it doesnot tell me the advantages of using PDS instead of PPM. Is it in cases you need to use change management, variants etc.?

"It is not possible to use object dependencies, configuration or colors in a DP PDS. If the iPPE contains such information, it is lost when you generate the DP PDS. "

What does this mean? Is it telling me that I cannot get dependent demand?

I remember reading SAP will not be developing PPMs any more. So you would need to go the PDS route sometime. Right now they co-exist but in future version there may be a withdrawl of PDS. (Someone can confirm this?)
