Hi Azhagar,

Service Order:Short-term agreement between service provider and service recipient, in which one-time services are ordered by the service recipient and resource-related billing performed upon completion.

The service order is used to document service and customer service work. In particular, you can use the service order to:

Plan services specifically with regard to usage of material, utilities and personnel

Monitor the execution of services

Enter and settle the costs which arise from the services

The data for the service order is entered in the history and is important for evaluations and future planning.

You can also create a one-time customer in the order and transfer the data, for example, to the sales order.

A service order contains operations that describe the individual work steps. An operation can be divided into sub-operations for greater detail.

Spare materials and utilities, which are required for service work, can be planned in the operation.

Pls award if it is helpful.

Hi,

Service order is

"An agreement between a service provider and a customer about the execution of services at a specific time and for a specific price. In addition, the service order contains planning for personnel, spare parts, and other expenses that are necessary for providing the services"

Service orders represent customer orders to service providers for the delivery of services, which can possibly include the exchange of spare parts in an after sales scenario. Service orders support service and spare parts planning and other expenses required to execute service jobs. Service order processing includes validation of existing contract and warranty entitlements, assignment of work items to the right service personnel resources and tight integration with enterprise logistics.

You may go to SAP Library and find out details about service order processing.

Hope it gives little info..

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

Is service order only for a specifi time & job.

Say I have a rig that drills at some customer site and the whole job takes 2 months.

If I want to send billing invoices to customer every 15days for the services I provided and for the equipment that is lost and procured while drilling.

Is it possible to use service order in this case?

Thanks,

Sivaram
