Convert Oracle Tablespace to ASSM

Hi,

Does anyone know how to Convert/reorganize the ERP's Oracle Tablespace to ASSM (automatic segment space management)? if yes, can someone please share the sql query or exact procedure to covert Oracle Tablespace to ASSM?

Hi,

You create a new tablespace as LMTS ASSM.

you do online reorganization from old tablespace to new tablespace

- If you are in 9i tables with Long Raw fields are not reorganized

- If you are in 10g this will reorganize all tables ( long will be converted to lob )

In the first case, you still have to reorganize ( offline ) the tables with long.

Hello Friends,

as far as I know the conversion from LONG to LOB fields should only take place in 10G but using sap kernel 6.40

In that case the is no way to do online reorg unless you upgrade the ERP 2004 to ERP 2005 (kernel version 7.0)

Is there any alternative way ?

Read SAP note 646681, it explains how to reorg tablespaces, so you need to create atablespace with ASSM and move data to it, then drop old tablespace and rename tablespace to source name.
