Hi,
I have a customer who would like to know what are the differences between Informatica and XI.
can any one assist?
Hi ,
Informatica is a Datawarehousing tool (ETL)which is used for Analyses purpose.
it is mainly of extraction of data from the source systems to analyze their business.
for eg: a company is being run for 10 years..
and want to know what is the gain or loss he got from his business...
then he should get the data(i.e extract the data from their business systems) and then analyze it with this tool.
in case of SAP this can be done by BW or BI..it is a complete datawarehousing solution....

Hi,
Informatica is a data integraton solution. It has many features that could not be compared to SAP XI directly.
While comparing the Informatica product with SAP products, Informatica capabilities could be compared with the Process Integration, and Information Integration layers of SAP Netweaver.
Talking only about XI, the monitoring capabilities of XI are far better than Informatica.
But Informatica also provides the capabilities like Master Data Management and Data Warehousing which are part of Information Integration while talking in terms of Netweaver Architecture

hello
Informatica is the ETL tool which typically is used incase of data load for reporting purpose while XI is typically EAI tool which is used for Business2Business (B2B) , Application2Application (A2A) integration or Business Process integration.
u can use XI as ETL tool but for huge data volumes performance might be the issue.

Informatica Powerconnect and SAP XI are tools. Also XI is a middleware but Powerconnect is not a middleware. Also the main advantage is if you want to connect with all components of SAP we need XI. But it is not possible to connect to SAP from informatica without a plugin. I feel this are the basic differences between these two.
