brarchive -a option

Hello, we use the SAP Two phase backup indicated <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/83/8fcf54ac5dfe4ba5fccf0516454ecf/content.htm">here</a>.

However, the -a option to brarchive is not working as I expect it. After archive logs are backed up to disk I thought running brarchive -s -a -d util_file (with other relevant options) would take those same logs and move them to util_file, but when I run that command I'm getting:

BR0439W No offline redo log files found in /oracle/PRD/saparch/archPRD001.log for processing for device type DISK->TAPE/BACKINT/RMAN

Can anyone give any ideas why this is not working as expected?

- Regards,

Richard

Hi,

Please check the parameter in the init<sid>.sap :

recov_interval

set this parameter to 30 so it scans the log file for the logs

backed up in the last 30 days.

Thanks,

George

Hi Richard,

Please check if this note help you:

Note 10170 - BRARCHIVE does not find archive logs to save

Nisch

Hi Nisch,

That note is for an older version of brarchive but it did link to note 490976 which was current, yet the information in there still did not solve my problem. There doesn't seem to be any SAP notes about the -a option for brarchive.

Hi, that option was commented out in our init<SID>.sap but it indicated that the default value was 30. All the same I uncommented it and set the value to 30 but still get the same behaviour.
