TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULING

The customer specifies a delivery date on the schedule line of the sale order. The business must determine if it can carry out the associated functions in procuring the requested quantity and delivering it to the customer by the requested delivery date in the sales order. The business functions required to be performed before a delivery due date can be met are the following

• Procuring materials (obtaining materials from a supplier)

• Planning the transportation to obtain space on a ship

• Selecting and packing the items

• Loading the materials

• Transporting the materials to the customer

Process of scheduling the business process from the requested delivery date backwards in order to meet a specified delivery date is called backward scheduling and vice versa is forward scheduling

Back order

Is it self a sales order that has not been confirmed in full or not confirmed at a certain date.

Rescheduling is a proposal of how confirmed quantities already assigned to sales order can be reassigned to other orders that have a higher priority such as an a earlier delivery date.

ATP (available to promise) is the process of checking the available quantities of a material. It is equal to warehouse stock plus the planned receipts (incoming stock) minus the planned issues (out going stock).

RLT (replenishment lead time is the time needed to produce the requested stock i.e. time taken by the business to produce a material or the time taken to externally procure the material from a vendor. RLT is used only when doing an ATP check. It can be determined in one of the two ways.

 The RLT for an external procured material is determined based on the total of the processing time for purchasing, the planned delivery time and the goods receipt processing time

 The RLT for an internally procured material is based on the in-house production time found in the MRP2 view or alternatively on the total RLT which is fond on the MRP 3.

There are 3 types of availability checks

 On the basis of ATP quantities.

 Against product allocation.

 Check against planning

HI.,

Back ward scheduling means when we get a order system first does back ward scheduling like it takes the customer delivery date in view and checks back how many daysrequired to produce the goods like If a customer ask to supply goods on 30 Th of may,Today is 25 th ,so it checks from may if the time requiored to produce the goods is 8 days then it comes checking from 30 th may,* days means it passes 25 th,today date,So then it does forward scheduling like it caliculates 8 days from todays date and confirms 6th june as delivery date

Feel free to ask queries

REWARD if helpfull

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

In sales order depending on required delivery date system will calculate confirmed delivery date by backword schedulling considering Pick pack,Loading time,Transportation lead time. and will arrive at material avilablity date.If this date is after required delivery date then quantity is confiremed.

If date falls before required delivery date the system does forword schedulling and gives you confirmed delivery date.

Reward points if useful
