Relation between Transaction Type and Notification Type.

Hi,

In Sol Man “Transaction Type” can be defined as one for processing of specific business transaction.

Along with a Transaction Type, an Action Profile and Number range is associated.

Example of Trans Type is SLFN.

And Notification Type is a key that determines the origin, content, and other features of service, maintenance, and quality notifications.

Similarly along with a Notification Type, an Action Profile and Number range is associated.

Example for Notification Type is SLF1.

Please correct if the above definitions are not right.

Now from an Implementation of Service Desk perspective, how are the Transaction Type and Notification Type related?

Regards,

Vikas

Hello Vikas,

the official SAP terminology states as transaction type (in the context of CRM and therefore also the Service Desk in SAP Solution Manager):

"Defines properties and characteristics of a business transaction (for example, sales order, service request, visit) and specifies the control attributes (for example, text determination procedure, partner determination procedure, status profile, organizational data profile). A transaction type controls processing of a specific business transaction.

A business transaction type is assigned to one or several business transaction categories (for example, activity, opportunity, sales, service). The business transaction category defines the business context in which a business transaction type can be used."

What does this mean in general and for SAP Solution Manager?

According to the above definition, the term "transaction type" is used as an umbrella term. The term coveres a variety of concrete transaction types, such as:

- SLFN used for Service Desk Messages

- SLFI for Issues and SLFT for Top Issue as used in Issue Management

- SDCR for creating change requests in the area of Change Request Management ... just to give some examples which are shipped with the SAP Solution Manager

Where can you check and maintain transaction types?

Check transaction SPRO, navigate in the SAP Solution Manager IMG -> SAP Solution Manager -> Basic Settings -> Scenario Specific Settings -> Service Desk -> General Settings -> Define Transactions Types. Here you find the exact definition of all transaction types.

Best regards,

Doreen

Hello Doreen,

Thanks for your reply.

If I can get the relation between "Notification Type" and "Transaction Type" from implementation perspective, that would be great.
