Is it a standalone tool?

What is it used for?

Is it a debugging tool?

Purpose of Sterling Commerce?

It is a 3rd Party Adapter

What is it used for?

It provides some pre-built mappings for IDOC to ANSI X12 and Idoc to EDIFACT.

Is it a debugging tool?

No, It is an 3rd Party Adapter

The Seeburger adapters is to configure the BIC as a module. There is a software component from seeburger called bicmapper which will allow you to do the following Defination, Metadata defination,Mapping and generate SDA and deploy.

There are several offerings from Seeburger that include the BIC mapper. Some are adapters which plug into XI, and the top end is a separate tool.

It is an any-to-any mapper and is usually used for mapping EDI.

Sterling Commerce is a competitor to Seeburger. They offer Gentran as an EDI translator.
