Hi,
Can we transport IR objects like communication channel, receiver determination etc. from DEV to QA/PRD or we have to create these manually in QA and PRD. I guess it has to be done manually but wanted to confirm.
Thanks,
Jassi
Hi,
>>>Can we transport IR objects like communication channel, receiver determination etc. from DEV to QA/PRD or we have to create these manually in QA and PRD
we can transport them (ID objects) in the same way as objects from IR (via files)
we don not have to create them on every system
(we just need to fill communication channel data
on every system)

Hi Jassi,
The way u transport the stuff is a bit different if u use NWDI. if u r not using NWDI for transport, u can proceed as the ppl had mentioned.
let me know if u r using NWDI and whether u need the steps to transport?

You need not do things manually. You create transport targets for the business systems in the SLD and then transport the Objects from the Integration Directgory and import them in the new environment.
The Business Systems mapping will happen automaticaly if transport targets are created correct on the SLD.
You will need to add a the comm channel parameters once again (a few of them ) and the tranportation is complete. No need to do this manually for every environment.

Sorry, I meant the ID(not IR) objects i.e. communication channel, receiver/sender determination etc. Since in DEV system, the business system they are created for is R/3 DEv system where as in XI QA , they have to be associated with R/3 QA. The RFC destination and other stuff will be different in communication channels..So, how does all these changes are effected when we transport these objects.
I see a tools -> export configuration objects option in ID. Do we have to use this while exporting/importing objects from DEv to QA or there is some other transport mechanism???
And my answer was talking abt ID objects.
For Business Systems , in the SLD you create something called Transport Targets. All your Dev Business System s are added to a Dev Group and then you create a QA Group and then do the mapping for the Dev to QA Business Business Systems using the Transport Targets in the SLD for your Business Systems.
I have also mentioned abt Communication Channels. Details like the RCC destination etc which change need to be renetered but parameters like Content Conersion Parameters in the file adapters etc are reatained.
Do the Transport Targets in the SLD. , ie. tell which Source Bussiness System has to be mapped to which Business system in the QA.
Export the objects from the Dev system using Tools --> Transport.
Move the tpz files from the export folder of the Dev to the import folder of the QA manually and then go to QA , Tools --> Import.
Key in the comm channel parameters and activate the import change list!

You can use export option in Tools menu to export your configuration objects.
While transporting communication channels, you may have to change the userid and passwprd again. Just check these fields.
