There is no difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0. In order to bring all netweaver releases on par with each other , SAP renamed XI as PI and it is a part of NW04s
For every release of PI 7.0, there is a parallel Support Pack on XI.
only difference is the ABAP stack (which is 7.0 and not 6.40)
but from the developer point of view nothing new

Hi
here is short extract from an article in searchsap.com
Hot: "PI" (Process Integration)
Lukewarm: "XI" (Exchange Infrastructure)
Why? Just last year, XI was the hot term for NetWeaver's integration and messaging hub. Now you're supposed to call it "PI," as several high-ranking SAP product managers emphasized to me during the conference.

It is PI 7.0 and not XI 7.0.
PI 7.0 is Proces Integration.
