Hi Niranjan,

You are not taking a template from SAP to CAD.

In CAD Interface always you should work with CDESK i.e through CADDESK.

It is imperative to use the transaction CAD Desktop in Order to establish the link between the Cad drawing and Document Info Record(DIR ) while the drawing needs to be updated for title block entries.

The Following Procedure for working with CAD for Titleblock updation.

1. Open ACAD/Inventor , you see the SAP icon on the ACAD menu (top right)

2. Opend SAPview of CADDESKTOP i.e. AutoCAD/Inventor> SAP>CAD DESKTOP--->SAP VIEW.

3. Choose Working Directory for the Cad desktop log files.

Prefarably ( C:\Sap WorkDir\Acad or Inventor)

4. Enter DIR key (doc # + doc type ) you wish to edit

Result: SAPView tab is populated with DIR

5. Choose SAP View -> Originals-> Edi Originals

6. A Successful checkout shows ("File Copied")

7. choose "Execute" to edit the Original file. & Edit the drawing.

8. Save

This is the procedure you should follow to work with SAP-CAD when you have CAD Interface only this will update your Title block and likage will be maintained.

But you should use Function Module to mention all the Technical names of the Fields you need to maintain in the Title Block.

The in CFG File you need to map those fields.

i.e. in path

Cfg-File\LocalCfg\TbkMapping

Here you need to map all the required fields (DIR Fields in maintained in Function Module & the Template (ACAD/Inventor) Attributes)

Hope you are Clear.

Hi Niranjan,

The functional module which is used to call the title block is

Hi Niranjan,

<b>under spro>>CA>>doc mgmt>> gen data>>define workstation appln>>define template fr oiginal files</b>

what is significance of this?

Here if you click on "New Entries" you go to the new screen, where you have to Select the Doc type, Application, Source File OR Source Document.

You have to mention the Source File path i.e. Template of ACAD/Inventor/WRD for that particular "DOCUMENT TYPE"

or you can create one DIR with attached original template to that DIR and mention its DIR key at "Source Document"

Whenever you Create a New DIR with that "DOCUMENT TYPE" then this TEMPLATE MENTIONED EITHER AT SOURCE FILE PATH <OR> at SOURCE DOCUMENT will be called.

So the Template will be a common for this Document Type..

<u><b>Scenario</b></u>

For Example Document type say "GA" (General Assembly) will have a AutoCAD template of A0 Size with TitleBlock

and Document Type say "PD"(Part Drawing) will have a AutoCAD Template of A4 size with Fixed Title Block.

Similarly it can be for any applications (WRD, ACD, INV, etc)

Hope you are clear.

Rehman
