Maximum number of permitted terminal connections reached ( 200)

Hi,

In BI pre-production, Bi consultant are trying to run some report.

They log on to EP (enterprise portal) and than connect to BI through portal.

When they runthis report in al08 I can see different users logged and when count of this user reaches 139 they are getting error of maximum user per instance reached.

When I check in sm21 i get

'Maximum number of permitted terminal connections reached ( 200)'

I checked the parameter rdisp/tm_max_no it is set to 200.so we should get this error after 200 connection but I am getting this error in 139 user(checked in smlg and also in al08 )

Regards,

Manish

Thanks Ben for the reply.

But I am not understanding if this parameter is set to 200 than at only 139 connections why I am getting this error.

i can check this smlg or in al08 only 139 connections are there .

Is there any internal connections get generated and If yes than how to check that?

Hi,

Any application using work-flow? (this will use .. number of log on ..)

There are chances to raise more than 200

check

Hi ben,

Thanks for the reply....

rdisp/rfc_max_login is set to 90

rdisp/tm_max_no = 200.

Now what is the relation between two parameters and how to relate this with my issue?

Thanks and Regards,

Hello Manish,

RFC users are also counted in rdisp/tm_max_no . Check in AL08 again.

What is the number of active users? This includes both interactive +rfc users.

So if the number of RFC users is 61 maximum allowed limit will be reached.

Hi Ruchit,

Thanks for your reply.

Ok that is understood by your explanation, but why 61?

Is there any parameter which decide that valu?

Hello Manish,

61 because 139+61 is 200.

61 is not a fixed number. In AL08 how many RFC users do you have?

Hello Manish,

When go to AL08 at the top part of the screen you will 3 columns:

Number of active users No. of interact. users No. of RFC-users

No. of RFC users is corresponding to is the number of RFC users.

However check for the users in SM04 also apart frm AL08.

Hi Ruchit,

Thanks for the explanation, but I checked for yesterdays issue as I have taken screen shot of al08 when issue has happened.

Number of Active users:139

Interactive Users: 2

Number of RFC users: 2

Thus if you take total it will be 143 users in all logged in but still this value is less than 200 and I was getting the error maximum

"Maximum number of permitted terminal connections reached ( 200)"

Hello manish,

There is some thing wrong.

Number of active users = Interactive Users+ Number of RFC users: 2.

The total number of users in 139 which is number of active users.

So if number of RFC users is 2 then number of Interactive users should be 137.

Anyways this still does not solve your problem.

Can you also check transaction SMGW and SM04 and get figures for that ?
