Dear Raj,

Transport Request is generated in following scenarios:

1. Customizing Request - When doing or changing some customization.

2. WorkBench Request - When configuration is cross-client. Eg Generating new Table, making changes in access sequence, Abap development, etc.

Transport request is not generated for Master Data. For eg: Customer Master, Material Master, price master, etc.

Procedure to Release & Transport Request:

1. In development server, go to T.Code: SE10 & select the check box Modifiable & enter

2. In the next screen, you will see list of transport request created.

Note: Transport request consist of main request along with sub request. These sub request hold the object to be transported.

3. Expand the main request & you will be able to view the sub requests attached to main request.

4. First release the sub requests.

Note: To release the request, select the request ni & click on release request individually (Do not select release all request)

5. Next release main request.

6. Once the request is released sucessfully, imform the basis person to import the request to QA server.

or

If the authority is with you, through T.Code: STMS, select development server --> select request no & release to QA server. Here when it pops up client no, user id & password, maintain it of QA server & release the request to QA server.

Hi Raj,

Releasing Change Request Number

Whenever a functional consultant does a config or data maintenance change he will have a CTS number (customization request number) under his / her ID

Whenever a technical consultatn does a code change or table creation he will have a CTS number (workbench request number) under his / her ID

We can go to SE01 T-code input the CTS number click on "Display" and then place the curzor on our lower level CTS number first and click on the "Lorry" icon.

Likewise we do for the higher level CTS number as well.

As there is no limit as such. whenever there is a change in our module, we do this.

Hope this will help you out !

Hi Raj

<b>How to release the change request</b>

Whenever you modify any configuration settings in the development server a change request is created. Using [SE01] you can release the change requests.

<b>Why to release the change request</b>

It is an indication that you have completed your activities with the configuration, tested them completely and is now ready to be moved to Quality server

<b>How often do you release them</b>

There is no defined rule on how frequently you need to release the request. What we do is once the configuration is done in the development server we get an approval from the client to move them to quality. Once the approval is obtained we release the change request to the basis consultant for transportation.

There are a few clients who follow a particular format for such processes. eg) All transportation should be done on Friday. So its sufficient for the consultants to release the request once a week.

Reward if helpful else do let me know your queries.

Transport request is not generated for Master Data. For eg: Customer Master, Material Master, price master, etc.

Benefit of Transport Request:

SAP Landscape normally has 3- Tier system:

Development Server - Where customization takes place. Transport request is generated at this level & then first transported to Quality server for testing whether it meets the requirement or not. Once the requirement is met in Quality server then Request is transported from Development Server to Production Server (Actual / Live System)

Quality Server - Mainly useful for testing.

Production Server Actual / Live server, where the real transactions are created & posted.

hi ,

normally the transport requests are done in SE01 , SE10 . Normally when ever you do new changes you need to get them authorized to go in the production stage or QA stage depending on the phase. when u go in SE10 or SE01 u will find ur requests in them .

select them and then click the truck button in the menu section .. that will be passed to your higher authorities or to basis person according to the development. once it is released from them then its now in the next phase ..

how often depends on how often u get the requirement to change or develop the module . normally its allways there...

let me know if im wrong in answering your question

reward points if useful

thanks

Hi,

when you do a configuration for your module you will be doing this in development server and you need to transfer this into QA for testing. For this you have to create a request that you have finished x nos of settings and this to be released to a basis guy.He will be transferring to qa server.
