Hi Shiva

<u><b>Payload</b></u> : The payload is the actual contents (business data) of a message in the Exchange Infrastructure.Payload in its simplest terms is the actual data which is used in ur scenario

Hi Shiva,

Message protocol on XI is based on SOAP messages with attachments. All the messages forwarded in XI system is in SOAP format. This SOAP messages contains two parts SAOP Header (contains required info that IS requires to forwrd the message) and SOAP body contains Payload(actual business data) along with attachments. All the actual business data that is in the form of XML file is XML payload.

thank you,

I have doubt about business data or actual data. are you referring to the fields added in data type in IR while design. Can u give examples to understand clearly.

Hi Shiva,

Business Data is basically the actual data in a file minus all headers info required for transport and minus all attachments. In XI message header information are appended to the payload for transport known as SOAP header and then discarded at their destination. Even payload has two parts one is business data part and second is attachments part. This business data is the actual data that needs to be send to the reveiver.

For ex. in File to File scenario the business data is in the file that needs to be transported to destination. Business data is in the format of XML format.

Subhasha

Hi Shiva,

see this abstract from messages file:

"The SOAP header of a message contains all the important information that the Integration Server requires to forward the message, while the payload contains the actual business data (such as <PurchaseOrder> in the example above). <b>You can also append an unlimited number of attachments to the message before it is sent. Attachments typically comprise non-XML data, for example, pictures, text documents, or binary data."</b>

Hi

The main payload contains business data. There are optinal payloads such as trace documents and documets for sending additional data which comes under attachment

As u are aware SAP XI uses soap with header extensions and payload with attachments

thanks...

Yes, you are right. This attachment means usually non-xml file that we attach apart from the main file to be transported.

Hi Shiva,

1) XML payload is just a XML file (XML message).

2) xi-soap message : it is basiccaly a format that allows you to attach number of such messages as an attachments.

3) Payload is a way/term representing messages in XI in XML format.

Note : Input payload indicates your sender side message payload and the Output Payload indicates the message to be sent to Receiver after it is mapped.
