Sap XI sld products and software component.

Hello everybody.

I'm studying the sap/xi module and i got some difficulties to understand the products that we configure in the SLD repository and directory.

My question is: if i add a component in my sld let's say sap 4.7 then should this component first exist as a system with it's software components ? so it is a correlation i configure only the sap/r3 or non sap systems that we are using and we want to interface with.

Thanks for your help

Tahar.

when u r creating any s/w products it will not ask for the concern system,

so it means that the system may not have same software, it make sense to add

the corresponding according to its functionality,

But for sap products whenever new product released it automatically adds s/w products along with the new version of SAP XI. it means that its not compulsory that the system should exist, Correct me if i am wrong.

Hi,

The standard SAP components say SRM etc are shipped by SAP, if you want to add custom components you can create your own third party products. SLD acts as a central repository having all information about the systems in your landscape.

You can read more about the SLD here http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/31/f0ff69551e4f259fdad799a229363e/frameset.htm
