development, quality analysis & production servers

hi,

can anyone tell what is the use of Development server, Quality Analysis server & Production Server...pls... tell me what are its uses & where are they used? If we develop any project, it comes under which server? when will we use Production server.....

<b>Development Server</b> - Used while you are developing your application (product). Its of general usage.

<b>Quality Server</b> - The application targetted to have some application only that meant to be shipped or used by customer. Here you can have environment similar to production system and test the application (product).

<b>Production Server</b> - Used to have the actual application (product). Used by customer directly.

Having different servers helps to control the development and maintainence of your product.
